Toni & Guy

Toni & Guy are one of the biggest when it comes to worldwide hair salon chains. Originally founded by the two Mascolo brothers in London back in the 1960s, the Toni & Guy brand went international 25 years later. With such a huge amount of salons, now at nearly 500 worldwide, there was always a high demand for products, so they created the TIGI brand in the 80s. Building up fantastic salon distribution, Toni & Guy sold their TIGI brand for £296m to corporate Unilever who also own hundreds of brands and distribute all over the world, selling not only hair styling products but pizzas, chewing gum, ice cream, cleaning products and lots more. Left with a gap in the salons, created by the loss of TIGI, Tony & Guy branded products launched both in their own salons and on the high street in supermarkets and drug stores.

Hairbond United Kingdom

Hairbond is one of the UK’s most popular line of hair styling products for both men and women. Founded by Scott Michaels, a professional barber and hairdresser in 2008, the Hairbond products picked up award-winning reviews and the brand went viral online carrying thousands of celebrity endorsements and is today a must-have brand for barbershops and hair salons who are looking for a brand with quality products where there’s been no expense spared.

First up the Toni & Guy Matte Paste!

Toni & Guy Matte Paste

  • Toni & Guy Matte Paste, for Men, 75 ml

Packaging:

Nice design but unfortunately the packaging quality is on par with the TIGI Matte Seperation, they also warn you that packaging may vary. Would love to know why they have trouble with packaging consistency. 2/5

Application:

Even though it’s rather creamy and wet, it’s so sticky that it is quite tough to get in the hair. If you put it straight in you get dried clumps, if you apply to your hands for even distribution there’s loads of tug and pull because its just that sticky. 2/5

Finish:

Wouldn’t say matte finish as it’s advertised as this glue-like product gives off quite the shine and dries out the hair. 1/5

Consistency:

Reminds me of glue you use as a kid and on the hands its like you’ve been playing with a pritt stick! 1/5

Hold:

Resembling glue, this product is quite strong holding in a stiff kind of way 4/5

Overall:

2/5

It is labelled as 3 notches out of 5 for hold, so this isn’t for those guys looking for super strength. Does just what it says on the tin or the plastic jar 5/5
