We all love new to market hair styling products, right? I’m excited to announce that this is an exclusive brand battle featuring the brand spanking new matte product, Hairbond Super Professional Hair Fibre which hasn’t even officially come out yet. The Hairbond Super Fibre is being launched alongside another new product, Hairbond Power Professional Hair Wax and they are likely to hit barbershop and salon shelves just in time for Christmas. The team at Hairbond have been kind enough to send me a couple of prototypes for testing in preparation for their big pre-Christmas launch party. What better way to compare them but to put them up against one of the most popular selling matte products on the market. Today we will fight it out, American Crew Boost Powder VS Hairbond United Kingdom Super Professional Hair Fibre.

We will find out which of these matte hair styling products rank better under evaluation from the 7 main categories, packaging, application, finish, consistency, hold, overall and what each brand has to say about their product.
What will rank higher? Will it be Hairbond’s new release or the Boost Powder by American Crew?
Before we decide, lets check out who these brands are and what they claim.
American Crew
American Crew is a huge multinational corporation started in 1994 who say they have been redefining what it means to be a well-groomed man and as the global leader in men’s grooming and the “Official Supplier to Men”, they have an ongoing commitment to elevating men’s style and enhancing their personal image by providing education and marketing which shares the brands’ vision.
Hairbond United Kingdom
Hairbond United Kingdom on the other hand was launched in 2008. A range which similarly only started with just a select few products has gone on to dominate global demand now manufacturing a range of products suited to different hair types. Hairbond launched out of Lancashire, UK when a barber and entrepreneur saw that Britain had to represent the best-made quality products. Over the years Hairbond has gone from strength to strength with thousands of celebrity endorsements. Due to the amount of Premier League and International footballers who support it, they have become known as the “Premier League Of Hair Styling”
“Launched in 2008, Hairbond is an authentic British hair brand that produces professional hair products. The brand products are all as a result of progression, innovation, and expression. What Hairbond offers, no other hair brand can claim. It uses the best ingredients to formulate professional products that achieve creativity and style. Hairbond has won many awards across the globe, and rightfully so. The philosophy of Hairbond is as true today as the day it was founded. The Hairbond range has intended to deliver its promise of quality by maintaining the highest possible standards, using top of the range product formulations and ingredients to create an authentic British solution for the ultimate hairstyling results.”
Let’s begin with the New Hairbond Super Professional Hair Fibre.

Hairbond Super Professional Hair Fibre

Packaging:
Glad to see red back amongst the Hairbond collection. Spectacular packaging, really classy. 5/5
Application:
This formulation has one major key ingredient, Keratin. This is a type of protein which actually makes your hair smoother and stronger and is a new addition ingredient to both new Hairbond 2020 products. I’ve never seen this before in a hair fibre before and it works great! 5/5
Finish:
Lovely matte finish. Soft and flexible even though the hold is super!
Consistency:
Although it looks like concrete in the jar, it’s more of a smooth paste, breaks down very well. 5/5
Hold:
Strong 4/5 matte effect. 5/5
Overall:
5/5
What They Say
TBA
Lets see how the American Crew Boost Powder can compete with that!

American Crew Boost Powder

Packaging:
Whilst the American Crew Boost Powder, brown and off white colour looks ok and matches the rest of the range’s design, I can’t believe they put a hair powder in this jar. It would have been suited much better to a taller, thinner shaker, however, it does work. 2/5
Application:
Strange applying a jar of powder to your hair. Try not to miss your head as I did otherwise you get powder all over your shoulders and it’s not a good look. 3/5
Finish:
Mattified look, you can achieve decent volume but works best on shorter and thinner hair. If you have thicker or longer hair you will want to finish off with a proper hair styling wax, clay or cement. 3/5
Consistency:
Light powder. 4/5
Hold:
Not really strong enough to use on its own if you have thicker hair. 2/5
Overall:
There are better scoring powders available. Yes, they are very similar but can score differently. 3/5
What They Say
“Tap the puck a few times to loosen Boost Powder and then pour a small amount into your hand. Sprinkle it lightly and evenly on dry hair, making sure the product falls to the root for maximum lift and separation. Combine with Fiber Cream or other American Crew styling products for enhanced volume and styling options.”
